Amazingness galore :: Cheryl, Jen *and* Mary
*Giveaway now closed.*
Her graciousness struck me from our first meeting, and what a first meeting it was. Mary, looking totally darling with her thick, dark hair swinging in a pony tail, and me looking totally not darling with primary colored birthday cake frosting smeared. all. over. my chest, face, and hair. {I later realized I even had frosting on my back. How? I’ll never know.} Unfazed by my disheveled appearance, Mary introduces herself and welcomes us to the Juniper Court neighborhood. We schedule a playdate for our same-aged toddlers, and so begins a friendship that More >
Because You’re Already Amazing

My Faith and I don’t talk too much during our mother~daughter date to the Four Continents Figure Skating Championship. The magic of it all leaves us spellbound. I mean, these skaters move powerfully but gracefully on ice. The men lift and throw the women, they all jump and spin on skinny blades on ice. Amazing, really.
One pair {from Canada, I think?} struck me not because of how perfectly they skated or how well they placed. My untrained eye noticed mistakes and she fell twice. But as they released their final pose, I looked up at the huge television screens just More >

Yours truly with the Nester and Jessica’s darling one, Adeline.
Once upon a time, there was a girl who had a sister named Sara. For many a day, Sara would beg Sister to check out this blog called Nesting Place. Since Sister wasn’t the most decorator savvy gal on the planet, she couldn’t get too fired up about an all-things-home blog. So, when Sara called again raving about this Nester girl, Sister rolled her eyes and said,
“Ya know, Sara, I’m not really the decorating gal you are and…”
Sara exhaled quick and loud. “Well I know! But trust me here. You’ll love her! I’m tellin’ you, More >
When You Feel Empty
Nov 1st
Just like He created the earth to be inhabited, He created us to be inhabited, full and light. Created-in-His-image full of light.
”For this is what the LORD says– he who created the heavens, he is God;
he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it;
he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited–
he says: “I am the LORD, and there is no other.
I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness…”

If you’re here visiting from the MOPS military book club, welcome! So glad to have you visiting my neck of the woods! If you would like to get a little Blue Skies encouragement for free in your mailbox, just click here. You’re welcome to connect with me via Facebook, too!
While stationed in Albuquerque, I helped start a Military MOPS group at Kirtland Air Force Base alongside a tight-knit group of fellow wives and mom-friends. And just remembering that sweet but exhausting time has me ready for a nap. On meeting days, I could nurse my baby daughter, manage my twin 4 year More >
God’s Heart for You {And a super sweet giveaway!}

Sometimes the grown-up you meets a new friend and you’re sure you’ve known her your entire life.
I felt that way when I met Holley Gerth at Relevant last year. Before then, I knew her through her gifted words at (in)courage and her own blog, Heart to Heart with Holley. And while she really is the queen of encouraging words {not to mention an award winning, bestselling author}, she is one of the most graceful, humble, downright likeable gals around. And if that isn’t enough to sell you on her personality, she’s also silly and funny as all get out!

Sep 6th
We all have a story inside us. And if yours reads similar to mine, yours may not include eye-popping skeletons in the closet. Still, that doesn’t mean you haven’t found yourself in a heap o’ tears, guilt and self condemnation from looking around and seeing failure everywhere.
Growing up, I was a classic good girl who cared too much about disappointing people to break rules or push boundaries. Thanks to good parents, I knew Jesus from a very young age. While I knew He loved me always, I thought He might love me more if I behaved well and performed well. And More >
For the Love of “No” {and a Giveaway}
Aug 24th
As a young’un, I had a sassy streak a country-mile wide. In particular, I liked to argue. A lot. While my parents pretty much encouraged me to pursue whatever career interests I wanted, over and over my Daddy told me never to become a lawyer because, “You’ll always be held in contempt of court for arguing with the judge!”
Well, he may have had a point.
If you’re like me and carry a tendency to argue {even if as grown-ups we have matured a leetle in this area}, you probably aren’t exactly BFF’s with the word ”no.” I know my heavenly Father gives firm “no’s” for good More >
