It’s like a gale force wind. When trouble strikes it’s never a calm day. It’s always chaotic, worrisome, and stressful. Often it brings us to our knees as we plead with God to make sense out of something unimaginable.

A DESERT TRIP

It was a time defined by loss. Disease ravaged my body, destroying my ability to walk. I lost my freedom, confined to my home for days at a time. Several friendships also disappeared, intensifying the isolation and loneliness. My identity as a wife, mother, and professional dissipated as I was forced to surrender my responsibilities to others. And, as the pain deepened and the disease worsened, rational thought vanished as depression grabbed hold of me.

I remember those dark, gloomy days, dreading to get out of bed. I knew the moment I put my foot on the floor pain would instantly consume my body.
I remember wearing the same clothes over and over, rationalizing that since I couldn?t leave my home, no one cared if I wore the same things twice.
