Are you a “people pleaser” – get RESTORED!
Apr 12th
Do you consider yourself a “people pleaser”? Always feeling the pressure to make others happy, receive their approval, gain their praise? Do you find yourself putting others first, even when it’s taking away from you, your family, or your health?
People pleasers are some of the greatest friends to have, they are always there for you, and prompt to rescue you from troubles. However, being a people pleaser isn’t quite so great. Take it from me, a recovering “pleaser”, it can be tough to say “no.”
My personal journey to recovery truly kicked off when I began to understand my value and More >
The REAL Avenger!
Mar 13th
Our family can’t wait to see the new Avengers movie! Superheros appeal to both children and adults alike. Who doesn’t like the chance to root for the good guys and watch them win against evil?
We are faced each day with the opportunity to be superheros in our own way. By choosing grace, forgiveness, and love, we choose to rise above!
When someone hurts you, forgiveness is not about them. When a friend makes poor decisions, and you still love them, it’s not about them. When someone talks negatively or tries to bring you down, and you choose to not take it personally, it’s More >
Life Ready Woman
Oct 7th
I’ve already read the book and have now joined a small group study over the book, The Life Ready Woman. I love this book! It focuses on the core roles of a woman and provides encouragement, food for thought, and strategies to becoming a well balanced, God honoring woman!
How sweet it is…….fellowship that is. If you’re not in a small group – pray for God to lead you to one soon! I simply am not the same w/out a study group! I don’t even limit myself to just those at my church as often times my schedule conflicts, etc. So, More >
A DEEP VACUUM
Oct 7th
Those were the lonely days, the days when friends were scarce and I was unable to leave my home. Isolation built a wall around me. I didn’t think I could take one more blow.
But, it came anyway.
An acquaintance from church called to see how I was doing. I was honest—after all, she asked—and told her the truth: I needed help. My house is a wreck. The toilets haven’t been cleaned in ages. My carpets needed vacuumed. Laundry was piled up.
After a long pause she said, “I was thinking about meals. No one wants to clean somebody else’s toilets, much less More >
Homework for the Soul
Apr 26th
Carrying a handful of papers, my son races into the living room. “Mom, I need some help with my homework.”
Gingerly, I pull myself up from my usual position on the sofa. However, any movement, no matter how gentle or slight, sparks a raging fire in every joint in my body. Ankylosing Spondylitis, an autoimmune disease which hardens the spine, joints and major organs, had transformed my healthy, vibrant body to diseased mess. Pain and immobility kept me land-locked on the couch or bed most days.
Fighting back tears—not wanting him to see my pain—I pick up the papers he dropped on More >
POVERTY OF HEART
Feb 14th
Loneliness is the most terrible poverty. Mother Teresa
The phone sat silently on the kitchen counter. I picked it up to double check—no missed calls and no voice mails. Hmmm. I’ll go check email. Nothing here either. Where has everyone gone? I hadn’t heard from friends in days; some had disappeared months ago. A few of my most cherished friends simply stopped responding to my messages. The weight of my disease—Ankylosing Spondylitis, an auto-immune disease that causes hardening of the spine, joints, and major organs—spilled over into my relationships. Maybe her life is too difficult to listen to my burdens? Is she just More >
