The Creative Combination We Need from You
Jun 14th
Lean in close, folks. I’m about to tell you something that will either skyrocket or plummet your opinion of me.
Ready for it?
I love country music.
There. This classically-trained, music degree holding girl said it.
And half my college music professors just fell over dead.
Country music is not the only genre I love, but it’s one of my favorites. Go ahead and roll your eyes and call me uncultured or slap your Wrangler-covered knee and call me family. Either way, I am a forever fan. Give me some George Strait and Faith Hill and Keith Urban any day of the week. And just so More >
For All the Late Bloomers
Jun 5th
The lilacs are blooming in Colorado now.
In June, people.
June.
My brain tells me that is ridiculously late because in the rest of the country – and in most other places I’ve lived – lilacs bloomed two months ago. But the truth is for this mountainous town that sits 7,000 ft. above sea level, they bloomed right on time.
Not long ago a friend and I were talking about our awkward teenage years, and she asked me when I bloomed. While this could translate into different answers depending on the specific topic, I told her in general, it was around 35.

MANNA Moments!
Jun 4th
It’s been a long-while since I’ve blogged and I pray that your patience will pay off with extraordinary messages the remainder of this year!
In November 2012 we accepted a 6 week old foster infant. While I can’t go into a lot of detail about his situation I can share with you that he has brought with him a host of lessons in patience, perseverance, and trust in God!
The first month we had him I just waited for the phone call – the one where CPS would inform me that a family member had been identified and they were picking him up. More >
Speaking is Believing!
Jun 4th
You’ve heard the saying, “seeing is believing.” I’d like to challenge you to think a little differently about believing!
The Bible tells us (Prov 18:21) that the power of life and death are in the tongue! LIFE and DEATH – which are you choosing? With that very same tongue, we can choose to destroy, tear-down, and put to death dreams & aspirations. If you find yourself speaking negatively about yourself, putting yourself down, saying things that truly don’t honor who God made you to be – today’s the day to begin Speaking and Believing! Through our words we can build up, cast More >
The Helpers
May 30th
I hold the envelope in my long fingers and stare at the graceful, swooping letters of my name handwritten by my husband’s Aunt Hetty. Originally from the Netherlands, Aunt Hetty met David’s uncle while he was stationed in Europe. They fell in love, got married, and Aunt Hetty left her home country to follow her military man all over the world.
I open the envelope and pull out the note. Scanning its contents, I soak up encouragement, help in the form of letters and words. As a sparkly new bride who didn’t have a clue about military life, Aunt Hetty wrote More >
The Ebook Is No Longer Free, But…

See update at bottom of post.
I move my fork slowly out of my mouth, savoring every bit of my piece of pink frosted, rose-laden birthday cake from Jamie.
I also savor each and every comment here.
Eventually, I drop my fork and grab kleenex because y’all, the (in)courage post’s prayer requests on behalf of our military and their families brought tears. More than once, my husband sat down next to me on the sofa, rubbed my back, and asked,
“Baby, are you okay?”
I’d just wipe my eyes and read several comments out loud.
To be able to pray for those men and women who voluntarily serve More >
