For the Days You Think Your Grown-Up Report Card Reads Straight F?s
Feb 27th
My boots?clip-clop clip-clop on the linoleum floor as I canter into the school auditorium. Today is Faith’s “Student of the Month” luncheon, and I come bearing her requested lunch treat: Subway. When I round the corner and my eyes find her, I’m surprised she looks trembly. As I set her lunch down and swing my legs under the long table, I ask what’s wrong.
Her doe-eyes clouded, she replies,
“Oh, nothing. I just thought you forgot.”
She smiles feebly in her relief.
I look at the cafeteria clock and see it reads five minutes into her lunch. Goodness. I’m five minutes late and she’s worried More >
A Ball, a Breakdown, and a Basket Case
Feb 19th
So, I made like a Crawley and attended a ball.
Friday night brought the annual Air Force Ball, and I’m pretty sure I put more effort into getting ready for this shindig than I did my own wedding. Such is life when you’re much closer to 40 than 20.
Since my husband and I almost never get the opportunity to go on genuINE dates, it was bliss to be with him out on the town. But I’m not gonna lie: I always feel a little out of place at these events, largely because infinite possibilities exist for me to make a fool More >
A Prayer for All God?s Daughters
Sep 27th
Sara Evans sings it but the Lord originated the idea and how I pray His daughters believe it’s true: You were born to fly.
But this world can do mean things and tear a girl’s wings by arranging elaborate pranks for the price of a wounded heart.?And only our God can take a girl from a prank to a princess because that’s exactly what we all are:?Golden daughters of the Glorious God-King. May His girls wallow in Truth not tears as we pray for each other.

For Aurora
Jul 23rd
I just sat and cried today on account of all this poor state has been through in the past month. No doubt about it, she has taken a beating this summer.
Wildfires galore affected Colorado from north to south. And soon after the Waldo Canyon fire is 100% contained, tragedy strikes an hour north of my town in a place called Aurora. Aurora, a name whose Latin origin means dawn, finds itself face to face with darkness at its most evil when a madman takes aim at a theater full of people watching Dark Knight Rises.
It is true: I perennially chase blue skies. More >
Wildfires
Jun 26th
Update: The Waldo Canyon fire officially reached Colorado Springs yesterday after jumping the fire line and spreading over the front range of the mountains. Entire neighborhoods have burned and 32,000 people have been evacuated. It is nearing the Air Force Academy. Please pray.
I’ve always romanticized having an idyllic little house in the mountains, a two story home with a wide front porch that would look all cutsy and woodsy like the one Sully built Michaela in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. {Tell me I’m not the only one who watched that show?} So, when we moved to Colorado Springs two years More >
Major Mess in the Middle of God?s Will
Sep 11th
Have you ever thought you were following God?s guidance or leading and you found yourself in a real mess of a situation? It can tend to make you want to doubt God and question His work in your life. Did I really follow God?s direction? Does He really care about my situation?? Why would God allow this to happen to me if I am following His will? The questions are valid, yet God often allows the difficulties in our lives for a greater purpose.? He will not leave us in the midst of our troubles. The important thing is for More >
